Having just returned from a fortnight stay at Escape at Prospect Bay (2003) and having reviewed some of the comments posted on websites elsewhere we went with mixed opinions. When we first arrived at the hotel our hearts sank as the first impressions were not that great. Thankfully we proved to be wrong! We stayed in one of the villa rooms. The room was basic but kept clean on a daily basis with towels refreshed daily and new sheets on a regular basis. As we did not spend a lot of time in our room it was sufficient for us. All communual areas were clean at all times, as were the two pools. The gym was working, so was the steam room and the jacuzi. Although the hotel is beachside, the beach is rather small for the number of guests staying at the hotel. Although sufficient loungers are provided for all guests, they took up most of the beach space making it feel it little bit cramped. Nightly entertainment is provided 6 times a week which is best descibed as low key for our age group (30's). All staff were very courtious and friendly and would go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. During our 14 day stay we can honestly say that we did not have one bad meal. The quality and presentation of the food matches that of any more expensive hotel. Both the Seascape Restaurant and Garden Room Restaurant provided excellent a-la-carte meals in the evening. Breakfast and lunch were served buffet style from the Seascape Restaurant and these meals were also of good quality. An extensive cocktail menu is also available from the bar which served the drinks without having to wait too long. The watersports facilities are good so was the complimentary catamaran trip to swim over a shipwreck provided for Virgin Holiday guests. Overall we would recommend the hotel to those wishing to stay in a relaxing environment with good quality food. It is excellent value for money baring into mind the price you pay for the holiday. If you want to spend 14 days in utter luxury, you could spend easily 5 times the amount of money and stay at the Sandy Lane Hotel! You pay what you get for and for what we paid we received excellent value for money.

Paid another visit to this lovely hotel at the end of 2005.

The complimentary catamaran is no more. In addition to the two bars and beach bar, an after hours bar is now open from 21:00 to 01:00 hrs in the all inclusive deal.

The food is as good as two years ago and the staff are as friendly as ever.

We would still recommend this excellent hotel for those enjoying a relaxing and child free holiday.

We have just returned from our third visit to this hotel.

ROOMS
----------
We stayed in one of the villa rooms and the room was clean with towels changed daily. Bed linen was changed on a regular basis. The air-conditioning worked well. Sufficient place to store the clothes was provided.

BEACH
----------
Sufficient sun loungers were available. Umbrellas were only available if you were on the beach early. During our second week of our stay, the beach started to erode severely with the bit under the trees totally washed away. This made the beach very cramped with sunbeds. Not the hotel’s fault and we were informed by the locals that Mother Nature should return the beach back to the hotel once again in March.

FOOD
--------
Both the restaurants served food of high quality and presentation. Breakfast and lunch are served buffet style with plenty of choice available to suit all tastes. Evening meals were either a-la-carte or buffet twice a week.

STAFF
--------
All staff were very friendly and attentative to our needs. When approached with the correct attitude they were willing to have a chat.

DRINKS
-----------
Service at all four bars was done with a smile. There was a little wait in the main bar in the Seascape restaurants at peak time with one bartender tending to quite a few guests. The quality of the drinks was good with plenty of cocktails available.

COMMUNUAL AREAS
------------------------------
These were kept clean at all times. A word of warning though: when wet, the floors do get really slippery, especially the stairs and caution is needed when using them. We suggested to the hotel to fix handrails when possible to reduce the risk of slips on the wet stairs. During our stay two people had to attend hospital due to slips on the wet floors.

ENTERTAINMENT
------------------------
A bit of hit and miss. Good on quite a few nights and quite poor on the others. Entertainment finishes at 10:30PM prompt which was a relief when the poor entertainers were playing but a real shame when the better bands were on stage. An excellent floor show was provided once every two weeks.

Overall we once again enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel to those enjoying good food in a relaxed and quite environment.
